Oboe Fantasia

Chamber Concert

The oboe is not only one of the most important orchestral instruments it also repeatedly inspired artists to create groundbreaking chamber music. The high amount of original works - among which there are moving pieces like Francis Poulenc's sonata from 1963 - gets completed by transcripts like Ravel's Sonatine, orignally a pure piano piece, which does pure magic in connection to the oboe. By the Schuhmann couple Robert's composition were initially written for clarinet, while the original of Clara's Romances was intended for violin. The pieces of the programme almost exclusively originate in romanticism and post-romanticism and thus the virtuous piano ballads by Frédéric Chopin fit right in.
