Organ – Fantastique

Not only is France the country of beauty and grace, it also is home to a rich artistic tradition dedicated to the phantastic and unfathomable. Hector Berlioz' "Symphonie fantastique" must be seen as a climax of that tradition. In this fascinating work the journey into the lands of fantasy finalizes in a macabre dream sequence. Francis Poulencs orignal concert for organ, strings and kettledrum includes a multitude of surprising ideas and reaches psychological depths despite its melodic catchiness. Finally, the composition "Métaboles" by Henri Dutilleux already became a modern classic with its dazzling, almost exotic appearance.
