Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali’s career is developing at a remarkable pace. Last season he made a number of important debuts including concerts with the hr-Sinfonieorchester, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Dresdner Phiharmonie, Tokyo Symphony and Philharmonia orchestras.

2013/14 is his first season as Chief Conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra which he begins alongside his position as Principal Guest Conductor of the Copenhagen Philharmonic. He also holds the post of Artist in Association with the Tapiola Sinfonietta.

As well as returning to the Dresden Philharmonic, this season’s’debuts include Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as concerts in the USA with the New Jersey and Milwaukee symphony orchestras.

In addition, he continues his relationships with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Residentie Orkest, conducting a number of concerts each season.

He has recently released a disc on the Ondine label featuring the Hakola and Hosokawa Guitar Concertos with Timo Korhonen and the Oulu Symphony Orchestra. His next recording, of the Adams and Ligeti Violin Concertos with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and Ilya Gingolts, will be recorded on Orchid Classics.

In past seasons, Rouvali has also conducted Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with West Coast Kokkola Opera.
